Moscow police send humanitarian aide to fire victims

Moscow police have sent 30 tons of humanitarian aide to the fire-affected central area of Russia, reported RIA Novosti news agency on Thursday.
"Today a column of six trucks carrying the stuff has left for Ryazan region. Local police officers will meet them at the scene," the chief of Moscow police Victor Biruykov was quoted by the agency as saying.
The law enforcement officers and their families managed to gather some 30 tons of medical supplies, bedclothes and hygienic items and other goods for those affected by devastating fires, Biruykov said.
The raging peat-bog fires have been engulfing central Russia for the last month, killing over 50 and leaving more than 3,500 homeless.
