The failed launch of a Republic of Korea (ROK) rocket, the KSLV-1 equipped with a Russian-made booster, will not affect the development of new Russian carrier rocket Angara, local media reported on Thursday.
"A joint Russian-South Korean commission continues to investigate the reasons of the failure," Vladimir Nesterov, head of the Khrunichev rocket-building center, was quoted as saying.
"So far, they didn't find any abnormalities in the work of the first stage. The failure will not affect the timing of construction of Angara rocket," he added.
The failed launch of the ROK rocket happened on June 10, when the flight was aborted on the 137th second after ignition.
The Angara rocket is a brand-new family of heavy boosters. The work on its development started in 1994 after the Khrunichev center won a commercial tender.
