Weather in central Russia broke the records with the day temperature on Wednesday reaching historical maximum, local media reported.

The temperature hit 32 degrees Celsius Wednesday afternoon in Moscow region, which was seven degrees above the long-standing average.

Meteorologists forecast even hotter weather during upcoming weekend. The heat wave may push the temperature up as high as to 37 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The previous historical record in Moscow region was reported in 2001 when temperature reached 31.6 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists also described the weather in Nizhny Novgorod, a city 400 kilometers east from Moscow, as "abnormal". The first time ever, the heat reached 35 degrees in this city on Wednesday, which was five degrees over the average.

Russian Emergency Ministry warned on possible black-outs during the week due to overheat of the power stations generators.
