Russia was discussing possible deliveries of air defense systems to Turkey, a high-profile official said Friday.

"As one of the key prospects, we chose to work with the (air defense) systems," said Michail Dmitriev, head of Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, as quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency.

The official did not specify the actual types of the weapons.

Meanwhile Dmitriev said Russia would supply Syria with MiG-29 fighters and Pantsir air defense systems.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev paid a visit to Syria on Monday, the first visit by a Kremlin chief.
