Finnish navy to host 10-country naval exercise

Finnish navy would host a 10- country naval exercise called Northern Coasts on 10-24 September, according to a statement released by Finnish Navy on Tuesday.

Finnish navy said in the statement that Estonia, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and the United States had announced their participation, with about 50 ships and some 2,500 troops expected to take part in the exercise, which would be the ever-largest naval exercise held in Finland.

According to the statement, the scenario of the exercise would be based on a crisis management operation and staged both at sea and the coast.

This will be the fourth Northern Coasts exercise, and the previous ones had been carried out in the South Baltic Sea led by the German Navy.
