Bosnian ex-officer arrested over war crimes against Bosnian Croats

Former Bosnian army officer Jusuf Hadzajlija was arrested in Konjic of Bosnia on Tuesday on suspicion of war crimes against Croats during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.

Hadzajlija is suspected of being responsible for the killing of22 Croat civilians and prisoners of war in the village of Trusina, according to Croatian state news agency HINA.

Members of the Bosnian army special operations unit Zulfikar and the 45th mountain brigade Neretvica killed 19 civilians and three members of the Croat Defence Council in the village on 16 April 1993, although they had surrendered. They also wounded four civilians, including two children aged two and four.

At the time, Hadzajlila aka Homeini was the brigade's deputy security commander.

Four former Bosnian army members -- Nedzad Hodzic, Mensur Memic,Dzevan Salcin, and Senad Hakalovic, and active brigadier Nihad Bojadzic -- have already been arrested for the Trusina crime.
