Czech President Vaclav Klaus appointed a caretaker administration led by Prime Minister Jan Fischer on Friday.

The 17-member temporary cabinet will replace the centre-right government of Mirek Topolanek, which lost a parliamentary vote of no-confidence on March 24.

Elections which had been scheduled for mid-2010 were expected to be in October.
