The Dutch government has decided to extend its mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina for another year, Dutch media reported Thursday.

The Dutch cabinet made the decision on Wednesday. The mission, comprised by over 80 Dutch soldiers, is part of European Union Force (EUFOR) Althea, which consists of more than 2,000 troops from mostly EU countries.

EUFOR Althea oversees the military implementation of the 1995 Dayton Agreement which sealed the end of the Bosnia War. It succeeded the NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) at the end of 2004.

At present the Dutch troops mainly help normalize relations between ethnic groups, the Bosnian authorities and aid organizations.
