The judicial police in Portugal has started a probe into the cycling team LA-MSS whose competitors are under suspicion for the use of forbidden substances, the police authorities said on Wednesday.
The news agency "Lusa" reported that probably the cyclists illegally got their supply from Spanish laboratories from the region of Galicia, citing a police source.
The agents have confiscated forbidden substances in the homes of a dozen team cyclists and in the club facilities.
The medical team is also under investigation, as well as Marco Maynar, a Spanish national who denied the accusations of performance-enhancing drugs used by team members.
During the recent Austrias Cyclist Tour, the levels of hematocrit and hemoglobin of the cyclists were within normal range, the doctor said.
Investigations are being carried out by the Corruption, Economic and Financial Criminality Head Office (DCICCEF) of the Judicial Police.
The National Antidoping Council will also investigate the team and perform laboratory tests on them. Source:Xinhua
