Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer discussed the alliance summit in Bucharest in April, Afghanistan, Kosovo and anti-missile shield in Warsaw on Thursday.

The talks also covered NATO Membership Action Plan for Georgia and Ukraine, Polish news agency PAP reported.

At a press conference Scheffer thanked for Polish soldiers' excellent performance in Afghanistan.

Sikorski said he familiarized the NATO secretary general with the course of talks with the U.S. on the deployment of anti-shield elements in Poland.

Jaap de Hoop Scheffer who paid a day-long visit to Warsaw said the Bucharest summit would discuss energy security, anti-missile defense and cyber defense.

According to Scheffer, Poles may run any area in Afghanistan and the decision which province to take belongs to the Polish government. "Once taken, the decision will be discussed by governments of NATO states and NATO Military Council," he added.
