Poland has returned to its natural place on the international arena, and the biggest challenge for its foreign policy will be Poland's presidency over the EU in 2011, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said Friday.
Sikorski took part in a Friday debate organized by the Batory Foundation devoted to Poland's new foreign policy, according to Polish news agency PAP.
Minister Sikorski stressed that Poland's position and interests are not changing and that "there will be more of continuation" in the new government's foreign policy than many would expect.
Referring to the 2011 EU presidency, Sikorski said Poland has three years to form such a diplomatic service which will allow Poland to enter the "European first league."
Sikorski also stressed that Poland achieved a big success during the recent meeting of the European Council. He was referring to an entry to the council's protocol that the EU will equally develop both its eastern and southern policy.
The minister stressed that this took place without any "row or even a heated discussion." He added that Poland's goal is that outlays on both dimensions of the EU policy be similar. Source:Xinhua
