The death toll from a gas explosion in an apartment building in eastern Ukrainian on Saturday has risen to nine, the Emergencies Ministry said.
The blast took place at 11 a.m. local time (0900 GMT) in a large residential complex in the city of Dnipropetrovsk, according to a ministry spokesman.
Local media reported nine bodies have been recovered, and 18 people, including three children, were injured, 12 of whom have been taken to hospital.
Part of the ten-story building was destroyed, and nearby buildings in the industrial city, some 600 km from Kiev, were also damaged due to strong shock waves sent by the powerful blast.
The cause of the explosion has not been determined.
