Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is getting better after a surgery removing a cancerous tumor, Bolivian President Evo Morales said on Sunday, quoted by local media.

Morales told a Colombian magazine that "Chavez is very well" and "has survived the bad moment," adding he is happy that Chavez "has gotten out of this situation."

Chavez watched a soccer match between Venezuela and Ecuador for the America's Cup 2011 on Saturday and said he was fulfilling a medical treatment and following his diet plan.

Chavez denied his health condition would impede him from ruling the country. He said he was recovering. "The president rules," he said.

Chavez returned to Venezuela on July 4 from Cuba, where he underwent a surgery on June 20 to remove a cancerous tumor.
