Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Wednesday warned criminal groups that the armed forces have become better equipped since he took office in 2006.
"I have a deep conviction that the Mexican Army and Navy, or armed forces, are stronger than any criminal organization or all of them put together," Calderon said at a ceremony to mark the nation's "Navy Day" in the port city of Guaymas, located on the Gulf of California.
Mexico is a key transit route of illegal drugs between South America and the United States.
