At least six people were found dead as a fire engulfed a house early Sunday in Vancouver of the United States, a city in southwest Washington State which shares the name with Vancouver of Canada.

No suspect or person of interest has been named and the cause of the incident is under an on-site investigation that would continue on Monday, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp was quoted by local daily The Columbian as saying.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 1:30 a.m. local time after several neighbors heard a loud explosion and saw the flames.

Initial reports said two people were killed in the blaze, but the number was revised Sunday night after four more bodies were found in the debris of the single-story house.

Preliminary autopsy results would come out on Monday and firefighters are still searching for more possible victims.
