President Obama arrives in Chicago to start fundraising

U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Chicago Thursday afternoon to kick off fundrasing for his 2012 re-election campaign.

The president arrived at O'Hare International Airport shortly after 5 p.m. and is expected to deliver a speech at a 5,000 dollar to 15,000 dollars-per-plate fundraiser at N9NE Steakhouse, according to local media reports.

He will then speak and stay for dinner at MK restaurant, which charge each guest for 35,800 dollars.

Two fundraiser restaurant will each be attended by about 225 people, and part of the cash raised will go to the president's 2012 re-election campaign and part to the Democratic National Committee.

According to the schedule, the president will attend the third fundraiser events in Navy Pier, with about 2,000 people. Celebrity attendees includes Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose and Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel.

Obama announced earlier this month his campaign headquarters would again be in Chicago, which played a prominent role in his successful 2008 bid.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama will return in two weeks to tape a show with Oprah Winfrey for her final season.
