At least eight people were killed and another 8 injured in Colombia on Friday during a series of attacks believed to be carried out by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), local authorities reported.

Colonel Antonio Victoria, divisional police commander, said the first attack occurred in the municipality of San Calixto when a cylinder bomb was thrown at a private residence that left three people dead.

Just 30 minutes after the first attack, a similar attack was reported in the nearby village of Las Mercedes, where a cylinder bomb hit the roof of the police station, leaving three police officers crushed to death by collapsed roof, said Victoria.

Later Friday, the Colombian Armed Forces said two other officers were killed in a combat near the border with Ecuador. Five other solders suffered multiple injuries as a result of the detonation of explosive devices.
