Dominican R offers India entrance to American, European markets

Dominican Republic's President Leonel Fernandez on Tuesday said that his country is India's best entrance to Latin America, Europe and United States markets.

The Dominican Presidency said in a press note published at its website, that Fernandez, who currently is visiting India, also invited the Indian businessmen to invest in high technology, mainly developing software and hardware in his country.

Fernandez said that his country "has preferential access to more than 878 million consumers in the world through commercial agreements negotiated in favorable conditions to offer good advantages to the companies making business in our country."

Fernandez on Tuesday met with representatives of some 250 micro, small and medium Indian companies in order to promote the Dominican Republic as an alternative in Latin America and other regions in the world.

During the meeting, Fernandez also stressed "the good investment climate and law security offered by the Dominican Republic."

Fernandez arrived in India on Sunday, coming from Switzerland, where he attended the Davos Economic Forum.
