U.S. secretary of state visits Haiti

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday began a one-day visit to Haiti, where she will meet with Haitian President Rene Preval and the presidential candidates.

According to information reaching here from Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, Clinton's visit is aimed to help solve the political crisis in Haiti, triggered by the controversial outcomes of the presidential and legislative elections held on Nov. 28.

Clinton will meet with the main presidential candidates. She will also meet with the Haitian leaders to discuss the reconstruction of the country, which on Jan. 12, 2010 was devastated by a strong earthquake.
