Peruvian President Alan Garcia said on Monday that he will announce a cabinet reshuffle after accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Javier Velasquez Quesquen.

"I am going to announce a reshuffle of the ministers on Tuesday. I accept the resignation of Velasquez Quesquen and all his staff, and I will announce a new cabinet on Tuesday," Garcia said during an official event in Lima.

Although Garcia did not mention the reason for the reshuffle, many of the ministers have expressed their wishes of running for the general elections scheduled for April 2011.

Velasquez Quesquen told local radio station RPP on Monday that he wanted to win the presidential nomination for the ruling Aprista Party of Peru.
