Cuban leader, Kuwaiti PM meet to boost bilateral relations

Cuban President Raul Castro met here on Monday with visiting Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammed al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on bilateral relations and cooperation projects.

Both leaders were satisfied with the ties between the two nations and also talked on international issues, specially the current situation in the Middle East.

Al-Sabah, who arrived here on Friday night, met on Saturday with Cuban First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado, and signed cooperation agreements in the areas of trade, culture and foreign affairs.

This is Al-Sabah's first visit to Cuba, the second leg of his Latin America tour that will last until Aug. 1. His current visit aimed to strengthen Kuwait's relations with the region in areas such as education, economy, medicine, culture,investment and industry.

The tour will also take him to Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.

Kuwait and Cuba established diplomatic relations on May 13, 1974.
