"The President said that the resilience and resolve demonstrated by the people of Poland in the face of their unprecedented tragedy remains an inspiration to the world," the White House said in a statement.
"The United States and Poland are close allies and partner together," the statement said, adding that Obama expressed appreciation for Poland's contributions to the war in Afghanistan.
The White House said Obama invited President Komorowski to visit Washington and looked forward to continued close cooperation with him.
Komorowski, candidate of Poland's ruling Civic Platform party, was elected the new president in Sunday's presidential runoff by winning 53.01 percent of the vote, the state election commission said on Monday.
