Mexico and South Korea agreed on Thursday to restart the negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in order to strengthen bilateral trade and ease investment.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his Korean counterpart Lee Myung-bak both committed to boosting efforts to reach a FTA.

The FTA "is fundamental" to boost bilateral trade links, Lee told a joint news conference with Calderon.

Both leaders also reaffirmed the commitment to guarantee the international regime of non-nuclear proliferation.

Lee Myung-bak also offered all his support for the success of the UN conference on climate change to be hosted at the end of 2010 in Cancun, Mexico.
