Colombia's President-elect Juan Manuel Santos met on Tuesday with the military leaders to begin drawing the line of his government on security and fight against drug trafficking and terrorism.

Santos visited the Defense Ministry and later met with the current Defense Minister Gabriel Silva and other military and police chiefs.

"We had a nice meeting with the minister, with the high level officers and vice minister. As you should understand we feel like at home, returning to my home," Santos said making reference to the three years he was defense minister during the administration of president Alvaro Uribe.

Santos said that during his government he will continue with the "hits to drug trafficking, terrorism and continue fighting for security" for all the Colombian people.

Santos also congratulated the officers who commanded the Camaleon operation, where four policemen and militaries were rescued from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on June 13.

"I congratulate you for the great Camaleon Operation which give pride again to all Colombians," Santos said.

"It was a great achievement for our public force, a demonstration that the Colombian Plan has worked," he added.
