A Boeing 738 of the U.S. carrier American Airlines made an emergency landing Friday in the Colombian city of Cali after the pilot reported fire and smoke in the cabin, local authorities said.

The plane took off from Cali for Miami early Friday moring. The pilot reported the fire 15 minutes into the flight and managed to fly the plane back to the airport.

The manager of Cali's airport, Ricardo Alberto Lenis, said that the smoke was caused by a burnt light bulb. After one hour of repairs, the plane took off again.

The incident occurred at 7:12 a.m. local time (1212 GMT). There were 88 passengers and six crew members on board.
