Three teenagers were wounded Wednesday night in a drive-by shooting in Schaumburg, which located in the northwest of Chicago, the Chicago Tribune said Thursday.

Two boys, 12 and 16, and a 14-year-old girl were shot around 8: 30 p.m. Wednesday as they were about to enter the parking lot, neighbors said. The shots were fired from a pickup truck driving westbound.

The pickup truck continued driving west after the shooting. The younger boy and the girl are brother and sister, according to police.

The 12-year-boy, who received gunshot wounds to the torso and the arm, remained in critical condition Thursday morning, and the 16-year-old boy who received gunshot wounds to the torso, lower abdomen, and legs was listed in good condition.

The girl, who suffered a graze wound was treated and released Wednesday night, according to the local hospital.

Wansaslao Elias, the maintenance man in the apartment complex where the victims live, told Chicago Tribune that the boys and girls are good kids, who don't have any problems with anything and aren't affiliated with gangs.

According to a police news release, police believe that the shooting accidents may be done by members of gang, but have not found evidence to prove any gang affiliations between the victims and the shooter, and have yet to determine the motive for the shootings.

The local high school where two victims come from has added a police officer for extra security as a precaution.
