Prison clash kills 5, injures 14 in Mexico

At least five prisoners were killed and 14 others injured on Tuesday during a clash between rival gangs in a prison in the state of Chihuahua, north of Mexico.

According to a local radio station, the event occurred at 2:30 p.m. local time (2030 GMT), which was controlled by the state and federal police a few hours later.

Two of the prisoners died from knife-injuries, one died due to hits and two others for gunfires.

According to the prison authorities, the clash was between rival groups fighting for the control of the prison's areas and allegedly also for the drug sale points.

To avoid a similar clash to happen, the prison authorities helped by the state and federal police made an operation to seize the guns and knives that the prisoners could have.
