U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will start her visit to Brazil on Tuesday to prepare for President Barack Obama's visit, Brazil's official news agency reported on Monday.

Clinton's visit will pave the way for Obama's official visit to the country in the middle of this year, it said.

Clinton is expected to touch on issues of U.S.-Brazil relations, Iran's nuclear program and Brazil's purchase of 36 fighter jets during her meetings with President Lula da Silva and Foreign Minister Celso Amorim in Brasilia.

She will also visit Sao Paulo, where she will meet with businessmen from various sectors.

Before travelling to Brazil, Clinton on Monday visited Uruguay, where she attended President Jose Mujica's inauguration.

Clinton will also visit Chile, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
