A light aircraft crashed on Thursday morning and left at least seven victims dead on Nazca lines, in Ica department of Peru, local police reported.

The Nasca Highway Police said that the aircraft fell down and the accident occurred. Among the victims there are three Chilean tourists, three Peruvians and the pilot.

"They are all the people abroad the aircraft, which was completely destroyed due to the strength of the fall," director of the National Institute of Culture (INC) Americo Baiocchi said.

According to the police, the aircraft belonged to the company Nazca Airlines and the accident occurred in El Mirador, 424 kilometers of the South Pan American highway, which was reported at 11:00 a.m. local time.

It is common that airplanes fly over Nazca lines everyday in order to get a better sight of the mythic Nazca lines, which were made by old Nazca culture of 1,450 years with a great fame around the world.

Along the desert of Nazca it is possible to find several anthropomorphic, zoomorphic and geometric figures that were designed by Nazca culture on the ground as a way of predicting astronomical phenomenon.
