Moderate earthquake shakes Peru

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on Richter scale shook on Thursday Arequipa city in the department of Ica, south of Peru, 320 km south to Lima, without immediate report of victims and material damages.

The earthquake occurred at 9:00 a.m. local time (1400 GMT), the Peruvian Geophysics Institute (IGP) said.

The earthquake's epicenter was located 15 kilometers southeast to Chala locality with a depth of 82 kilometers, the IGP said.

On Wednesday another earthquake measuring 4 degrees shook the department of Lima, with its epicenter located in Chosica district,40 kilometers east to Peru's capital Lima.
