The body of a second miner was found Monday afternoon, three days after three miners went missing when the mine where they worked in eastern Canada got flooded suddenly.

The body of the first victim was found earlier Monday. Authorities say they have lost hope of finding the third one alive.

Three hamlets and a lamp have been found as rescue crews are still frantically pumping water from the mine, located just outside the hamlet of Desmaraisville, about 500 km northwest of provincial capital Quebec City.

Pierre Bernaquez, superintendent of human resources for Metanor Resources Inc, said chances of finding the third worker alive are very slim now.

The accident took place Friday night when the three workers went down the mine to do some repair work.

All operations at the facility have now suspended, but the cause of the accident remains unclear.
