Visiting Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday expressed his opposition to the U.S. economic and commercial embargo against Cuba.
"The U.S. policy against the island is not good for anybody," Mesic said after making a visit to the monument of Cuban hero Jose Marti in the Revolution Square.
Mesic, who arrived here on Wednesday for a six-day official visit, urged U.S. President Barack Obama to end the "Anti-Cuba policy".
Despite pledging a new beginning in the U.S-Cuba relations, Obama decided on Monday to extend the 47-year-long U.S. trade embargo on Cuba for another year.
Mesic said he will meet with Cuban leader Raul Castro to discuss the status quo of bilateral ties and the way to diversify and boost the relationship.
During his stay, Mesic will also attend the inauguration of the5th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Scientific-Technical, Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries.
