At least three children were killed in a fire that broke out in the south side of Chicago on Wednesday, according to an official of the Chicago Fire Department.
The blaze broke out in the top floor of a three-story building at Chicago's South Buffalo Avenue around 10:40 a.m. Firefighters rescued a fourth child, a 4-year-old boy, amidst light smoke on the second floor of the burning building and took him to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital with stable vital signs.
The dead children were found on the floor in the corner of a room on the top floor of the building where the flames broke out, fire officials said.
Fire officials were looking at several possible causes of the blaze, including the misuse of a space heater, but none had been ruled out.
