Peruvian President Alan Garcia announced on Friday that 2009 would be called the "year of unity toward the external crisis" for the South American country.
Garcia called all Peruvians to join efforts to tide over the repercussions of the difficult international context.
"We are going to call 2009, the year of strong unity toward the external crisis... The businessmen, the government, the Peruvians, united in one cause of faith and trust in Peru," Garcia said.
Garcia said Peru must has the faith to win in the global financial crisis, adding that the turbulence that has shaken the economies across the world will not destroy the country.
He said foreign investors put strong trust in Peru, adding that Spanish Company OHL will invest 200 million U.S. dollars in 2009 in building highways and bridges between Lima and Trujillo.
"This means that we have the help from those who believe Peru is safe, responsible and serious," Garcia said.
According to Garcia, Peru's economy will see growth of 9.4 percent in 2008, mainly due to the construction sector.
