Conditions have been created for holding the forthcoming legislative elections in early September, a senior Angolan electoral official said in Luanda on Tuesday.

After an audience granted by Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, Chairperson of the National Electoral Commission (CNE)Caetano de Sousa told reporters that he had handed over to the Angolan president a memorandum highlighting the conditions created for the holding of the elections.

According to Caetano de Sousa, the summoning of the elections by President Dos Santos will allow the solving of matters related to the electoral process, namely the candidacies of parties that will contest the elections.

Apart from the existence of conditions to hold the elections, the CNE chairperson said actions are underway foreseeing its success such as the training of staff, the establishment of offices and other relevant equipment.
