U.S. President George W. Bush will leave Washington Friday on a week-long tour of Africa as scheduled, said the White House.

The announcement was made after Bush said Thursday he could postpone the visit in order to coax the House of Representatives into passing a controversial wiretapping measure adopted earlier this week by the Senate.

Bush is expected to visit Benin, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana and Liberia between Feb. 15 and Feb. 21. It will be his second visit to Africa since he became president.
