The support rate for Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan's Cabinet has dropped to 17.1 percent, marking a record low, according to a Kyodo News survey on Sunday.
The poll also revealed that 66.9 percent of respondents want Kan to step down by the end of August. In addition, about 70.3 percent support Kan's policy of doing away with nuclear power, according to the survey.
In the previous poll conducted in late June, Kan's approval rate stood at 23.3 percent.
