The United Nations is extending a 370 million U.S. dollars grant to finance poverty reduction programs in the Philippines in the next seven years.

The focus areas and strategies for assisting the Philippines are outlined in the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2012-2018.

"(The UNDAF) will provide a clear guidance on how the UN will work (in the Philippines) for the next seven years," UN Resident Coordinator Jacqueline Badcock said Thursday.

There is an available 75 million U.S. dollars from the UN to fund the UNDAF. Badcock said the UN will mobilize the additional 295 million U.S. dollars from the private sector and other donors.
