Indian police have arrested two Iranians for entering a hotel and trying to meet visiting U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Indian capital on Tuesday, a senior police official said Thursday.

"The two Iranian nationals have been held after they went to the Taj Palace Hotel on Tuesday night to meet Clinton to make her aware of the atrocities their (Iranian) government was committing on them," the official said on condition of anonymity.

The duo has been identified as Dawoud and Ali Yari, who have been staying in the national capital for the past year, and they have refugee permits to stay in India, he said, adding that the two men are being interrogated.

Clinton was in India on a three-day official visit from Monday to Wednesday.
