Vice President Jejomar Binay on Monday assured President Benigno Aquino III of his loyalty and continuing support to his government amid calls by a Marine colonel for Aquino to step down for failing to fulfill his promise of reforms.

Binay, a reserved Marine colonel, said he relayed to the President the assurance of the Marine Corps that they are firmly behind the president's leadership.

Col. Generoso Mariano had been removed as deputy commander of the Naval Reserve Command last Friday and investigated for possible sedition and unbecoming conduct after calling for Aquino's ouster from office through a video.

"The sentiment of Col. Mariano is not shared by the leadership and men of the marine corps," Binay said.
