Suicide blast kills six in N Pakistan

At least six people including three policemen were killed and 19 others injured in a suicide blast attack at a political gathering held Monday morning in Pakistan's northern district of Batgram, reported local Urdu TV channel Geo.

According to the report, the blast took place at about 10:30 a. m.local time when a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of a checkpost set up for the political gathering held by the local party PML-Q.

The blast happened when a provincial leader of PML-Q was about to address the crowds gathering near a government building in the district which is located some 120 kilometers north of Pakistan's capital Islamabad, said the report.

Police have cordoned off the area and all the injured people have been rushed to nearby hospital.

Details about the suicide bomber are not immediately available.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the blast yet.
