Vietnam plans to export 7 mln tons of rice in 2011

Vietnam can export seven million tons of rice in 2011, the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) announced on Tuesday.

In the first six months this year, Vietnam exported 3.912 million tons of rice worth 1.847 billion U.S. dollars, up 17.57 percent in volume and 24.71 percent in value year-on-year, with an average price of 427 U.S. dollars per ton, up 27 U.S. dollars compared with last year.

VFA plans to export 1.9 million tons of rice in the third quarter, and 1.2 million tons in the fourth quarter.
