Eight people are dead and 81 others injured as tropical storm Haima hit Vietnam's northern Quang Ninh province, the coastal area of Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province, local media reported Friday.
The average rainfall in Vietnam's northeast and central northern provinces was recorded at 40-70mm, and in downtown Hanoi the rainfall reached 103 mm, said a report of Vietnam News Agency.
Heavy rains and thunderstorm are still reported throughout Vietnam's northern provinces. Vietnam's Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control has issued alerts to the affected cities and provinces' authorities to urgently settle the consequences and implement measures to protect the flood-affected people, irrigation works and reservoirs.
