6.6-magnitude quake hits New Britain region, Papua New Guinea -- USGS

An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolted New Britain region, Papua New Guinea at 1600 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 47.40 km, was initially determined to be at 6.0440 degrees south latitude and 151.3680 degrees east longitude.
