Singapore is most popular among Asian cities for foreign financial professionals seeking their overseas working experience, a latest survey has found.

The survey covering over 3,000 financial professionals in the Asia Pacific showed that the level of intra-Asian mobility in financial markets and Asia remains the top destination for expanding career horizons within the sector, local broadcaster Channel NewsAsia reported on Wednesday.

China's Hong Kong is the top relocation choice for Singapore financial professionals, who chose elements such as better career opportunities, work-life balance and higher pay as the most important.

New York was the second best choice, followed by London and Sydney, according to the survey conducted by human resource consultancy firm eFinancialCareers in May and June.

The survey also shows that the professionals saw overseas experience as crucial to developing a successful career in the sector. About 88 percent of finance participants identified overseas experience as important to their career.

The financial job market is also livelier than the previous year. Some 81 percent of Singapore respondents said that they have been offered the job-hopping chances since the start of the year.
