Indonesia arrests 14 terrorist suspects, plotting to poison police

A senior Indonesian police officer said on Monday that they had arrested 14 terrorist suspects across the country in the last few days, allegedly planned a ploy to poison police, local media reported in Jakarta.

Boy Rafly Amar, a spokesperson at the Indonesian police headquarters said that all of those suspects were arrested in Central Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, Central Java, West Java provinces and in the capital city of Jakarta since Thursday to Sunday last week.

He said that those suspects were the operatives of a terror organization centered in Poso, Central Kalimantan province, as quoted by the The group assassinated two policemen guarding a bank located on central Sulawesi province's capital city of Palu recently. Police had killed two of the group's operatives in their search against perpetrators who killed their colleagues.

Citing to results of their interrogation against the suspects, Boy said that the terror group had plotted a deadly 'silent' attack against the police by poisoning foods with cyanide in canteens located in police precincts across the country.
