A powerful blast rocked southern Afghan province of Ghazni on Saturday, wounding four people, an official said. "I confirm that four persons were injured," provincial police chief Zarawar Zahid told Xinhua.

However, he did not disclose if the blast was a suicide attack, saying investigation is underway.

A local official who declined to be identified said two of the injured men have succumbed to their wounds.

The official added the blast happened at around 12:30 p.m. local time close to a military base of Afghan and NATO-led troops.

Security forces have cordoned off the site of the blast.
