5.4-magnitude quake hits Kermadec Islands, New Zealand -- USGS

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted Kermadec Islands, New Zealand at 08:16 on Friday (20:16 GMT on Thursday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 46.50 km, was initially determined to be at 30.36 degrees south latitude and 177.92 degrees west longitude.
