Suspected left-wing Naxal rebels Thursday killed at least four security forces personnel and injured one in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, said police sources.

"A group of armed Naxalites suddenly opened fire at a camp of the state's armed police in Naraynpur district. Though the security forces personnel retaliated by counter firing, at least four of them succumbed to the bullets of the Naxalites," the sources said.

Another security forces personnel has been injured in the firing and he is now said to be battling for his life at a local hospital.
