India's atomic energy department Sunday said that the central government would soon endorse the final terms and conditions of its pact with France's Areva SA for Jaitapur nuclear plant in western state of Maharashtra.

"The terms for the final contract are ready from our end and they will be circulated among ministers soon after which it will be placed before the Cabinet for its approval," India's Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Srikumar Banerjee told the media in the eastern city of Kolkata.

A framework agreement was signed between French nuclear engineering firm Areva SA and India's state-owned nuclear operator Nuclear Power Corporation of India for the construction of first set of two third-generation European Pressurized Reactors and supply of nuclear fuel for 25 years.

It was signed in the presence of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year. Once completed, it will be the largest nuclear power generating station in the world.
